Modernism Summary

To summarise "Art in Theory", a first and vital establishment is the indication that Modernism showcased Universal Ideologies and that it was intended to be understood by all people, all over the globe (albeit with some Western bias).
Europe was the base of Modernity, where it quickly spread and soon became International. This was a result of Modernisation's involvement with technological and arcitectural advances. In this era, Modernity became a celebration of Mankind and so, culturally, people became affected in a social aspect by Modernism (such as class divides and 'life without God).
The modernisation of life was viewed to be negative to some, with modernism making people "lose sense of life" with dependance on machinery and arcticetural advances.
